Roads to Avoid in East Midlands

East Midlands is composed of six counties including Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. The major roads that connect these six areas are often heavily congested with traffic especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours when a huge number of motorists drive to and from these counties.

Currently, the top heavily-congested road in Northamptonshire is along M45 Northamptonshire due to an ongoing road construction project. Likewise, motorists driving through M1 southbound lane of Northamptonshire, along J25, J26, J27, and J28 junctions will experience 10-minute traffic delays due to roadworks until October 2010.

Meanwhile, motorists passing along the M1 northbound lane between junctions 25 and 26 in Derbyshire will experience traffic disruptions due to road improvements currently being done. Traffic delays are expected to happen along these roads until October 2010.

Motorway Cameras in East Midlands

All six counties of East Midlands have been installed with motorway cameras as part of their local government’s road monitoring and safety measures. In Northamptonshire, towns like Sherwood, Roade, Northampton, and Brackley have their own road cameras. Cameras along the roads are also installed in many of Derbyshire’s towns, including Alvaston, Breaston, Long Eaton, Glossop, and Derby.
