Can I drive a van on a car license?
If the van doesn’t weigh more than 3 and a half tonnes (maximum gross when loaded) then you will be fine to drive just using your normal driving licence. This applies to most of our vans so you are unlikely to have any problems

Do I need a C1 licence to drive a van?
A C1 driving licence permits you to drive heavy goods vehicles which can weigh up to 7.5 tonnes of leaden weight. Therefore if you plan in renting a truck which is 7.5 feet you will not be able to use your normal driving licence but instead you will have to apply for a C1 licence at the DVLA. However, if you took your driving licence before the start of the year 1997 you should have a C1 entitlement on your licence already. Anyone who took their licence after this year needs to apply for a C1.

How old do I need to be to hire a van?
Most of our vans can be driven by anyone over the age of 21 years of age subject to license requirements.  Some suppliers require the driver to be at least 25 eyears of age - please contact us if you are in any doubt as to the minimum driver age.
